The Chavruta Detective: Sold at Sotheby’s workshop is a new interactive learning program that introduces participants to Yeshiva-style Chavruta learning. The entertaining and informative lesson is appropriate for learners on all levels, even those with no prior Torah-learning experience. The fast paced 1-hour lesson investigates an intriguing legal case from 1984 about ownership of valuable manuscripts confiscated by the Nazi’s.
The program includes a brief documentary-style introduction and incorporates Live Polling technology accessed with students’ smartphones.
After the case is introduced to the students with the video, the class is polled for their initial opinion. Participants then pair up to study the related sources in Jewish Law with their Chavrutot.
