Getting to the core of your essence

CALGARY — Sometimes in the busy lives we lead we tend to forget who we really are — and it’s more than what we do.

To help people rediscover themselves, the Rohr Jewish Learning Institute is presenting The Kabbalah of You: A Guide to Unlocking Your Hidden Potential, the institute’s new six-session Fall 2012 course that will begin next week.

“The course is about each and every one of us. At times we get so involved with our lives that we forget about ourselves,” says Rabbi Mordechai Groner of the Calgary Jewish Learning Institute.

Who are you? Not what you do but who you are?

What does it mean to be a human being?

“And hopefully by understanding ourselves and knowing what we are made out of, that will help us achieve joy, achieve self control, achieve meaningfulness in our relationships, meaningfulness in our lives,” says Groner.

He says people have so many different areas they’re involved in but they have to go inward and enhance the very core of their essence, the very core of their being.

Groner will begin the six-course sessions at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday at Chabad Lubavitch of Alberta. A morning option is also available starting at 9:30 a.m., Wednesday.

Interested students can call 403-238-4880 or visit www.myJLI.com for registration and other course-related information.

“As diverse as our talents and interests may be, there is an underlying core that is common to all,” says Rabbi Naftali Silberberg of JLI’s headquarters in Brooklyn. “We all share that humanity, that dignity that makes our lives immeasurably valuable. The Kabbalah of You addresses that core.”

Through the examination of the entire spectrum of what it means to be human, The Kabbalah of You offers recipes, tips, and techniques for not only discovering where your true meaning lies, but in actually making it a part of your daily existence. These sessions will help you see life as the mysterious, challenging, and satisfying wonder that it really is, explains Groner.

“Bringing light to what it is that makes you will enable you to discover new depths of meaning that will have an impact on every aspect of your existence,” says Silberberg. “Joy, contentment, courage, self-control, a meaningful relationship with God, beautiful relationships with others — these are some of the benefits of being in sync with your deepest self.”

Like all previous JLI programs, The Kabbalah of You is designed to appeal to people at all levels of Jewish knowledge, including those without any prior experience or background in Jewish learning. All JLI courses are open to the public, regardless of affiliation.
