FrenchMadison's Chabad Center 'Jewish Course of Why' to begin Feb. 10
MADISON – Chabad of Southeast Morris County will begin a new Jewish Learning Institute (JLI) course, “The Jewish Course of Why,” on Wednesday, Feb. 10, at the Chabad Center at 42 Park Ave. in Madison.
The six–week course will meet on six consecutive Wednesdays, beginning Feb. 10, with a choice of two convenient times: from noon to 1:15 p.m., and from 7:30 to 9 p.m.
Rabbi Shalom Lubin, founder and director of the Chabad Center, said “The Jewish Course of Why” was created by the Brooklyn-based Rohr Jewish Learning Institute, “an internationally acclaimed adult education program running in over 300 cities worldwide, which boasts over 75,000 students.
“Topics range from fun, light, and off-the-beaten-track questions,” Lubin noted, “to more complex and controversial issues, and each lesson provides an opportunity to question, discuss, and argue, based on principle and precedent.”

The rabbi added, “Importantly, ‘The Jewish Course of Why’ is designed for people at all levels of Jewish knowledge, and participants don’t have to have any prior experience or background in Jewish learning to attend and enjoy this course. Additionally, all JLI courses are open to the entire Jewish community and people from all backgrounds and affiliations are welcome.”
The course fee is $75, which includes the course workbook and all materials. Lubin said all attendees are welcome to participate in the first class on Feb. 10 free of charge. There is also a special couple’s rate of $125.
“Our propensity to question is what propels us to constantly explore new ideas and discover new insights,” said Rabbi Lubin. “Nowhere is this more apparent than in ‘The Jewish Course of Why’.”
Lubin said the course “has been generously sponsored in loving memory of Mr. Isidor Blumenthal.”
