Jewish faith is focus of class
Thursday, January 31, 2008CLINTON TWP.-- Chabad of Hunterdon County will present a course entitled, Beyond Belief: Reflections on Jewish Faith, Reason and Experience, beginning Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. and running for six consecutive Tuesdays.
The course, from the Jewish Learning Institute, is designed to help students take a closer look at how their beliefs can bring meaning to their lives and guide their choices in the real world. It draws on 13 key principles of faith identified by pre-eminent Jewish thinker Maimonides. Taken together, these principles act as a set of building blocks aimed at helping students construct a deep and nuanced understanding of what it means to live as a Jew.
The course will provide the Torah's perspectives on many of the most important questions that are asked by those of every religious faith. Students will have the opportunity to encounter classic primary texts and engage in thoughtful, open discussion.
Chabad of Hunterdon County is at 90 Beaver Ave. For more information, call 238-9002 or visit www.jewishhunterdon.com.
