BEHAVIORAL LESSON OBJECTIVES FOR PSYCHOLOGISTS

Lesson 1

Discuss the importance of empathy and its role in developing, strengthening, and maintaining successful relationships.

Lesson 2

Describe active listening and explain the positive impact of listening well on our relationships.

Lesson 3

Explain causes of negative escalation of disagreements, and describe a mindset for accord, compromise, and reconciliation.

Lesson 4

Explain the psychology of the Fundamental Attribution Error and how to develop a cognitive bias correction to achieve a “benefit of the doubt” viewpoint.

Lesson 5

Describe empathetic and effective methods of giving (and receiving) constructive criticism.

Lesson 6

Discuss the altruistic and personal benefits of forgiveness and its role in strengthening relationships.



  

ACCREDITATION STATEMENT

This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the accreditation requirements and policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) through the joint providership of New York Medical College and the Rohr Jewish Learning Institute. New York Medical College is accredited by the ACCME to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

CREDITS DESIGNATION New York Medical College designates this live activity for a maximum of 9.0 AMA PRA Category I Credits™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
