The JLI Course for Teens, which began on October 18 at Chabad of the Five Towns, was an immediate success. Eighteen students explored real-life issues that tested their courage and challenged their instincts. They learned how to find meaningful solutions for everyday problems. Rabbi Meir Geisinsky, Youth Director for Chabad of the Five Towns, taught the teens about moral challenges and secular rights versus the Torah's perspective on responsibility.
Rory Lipsky, age 13, who is a participant said, "The class was amazing. I learned that the Torah tells you that you have to go to any extent to save someone's life, even if it is on Shabbat. We learned that in society, you have the option to save someone, but according to Torah law, you are required to save someone."
This six-week course runs on consecutive Sundays, 10:45 a.m.-12:00 p.m., and is held at the Chabad Center. For more information or to sign up, please call Rabbi Geisinsky at 516-295-2478, ext. 19.
