ROCKAWAY TWP.- An eleven week course on the Biblical Book of Exodus will start on Monday, January 7, at the Chabad Educational Center, 65 Pawnee Avenue, in Rockaway Township. The course is titled "Let My People Know". Classes, complete with specially prepared textbooks and PowerPoint presentations, will probe the depths of this Biblical classic while providing meaningful insights applicable to contemporary life situations. Classes will begin at 7:30 p.m. Sessions will be led by Rabbi Asher Herson and are open to the general community.

"We are very excited about offering this brand new course. The Book of Exodus contains the foundations of both the Torah and contemporary thought. It contains the giving of the Torah on Mount Sinai, the birth of the Jewish people, the "mission statement" for all mankind, and the purpose of the Tabernacle. When studied with meaningful selections of the Talmud and Kabbala, these subjects offer fascinating insight into our own life's purpose and journey", said Rabbi Herson.

Classes will cover each of the 11 portions contained in this second book of the Five Books of Moses. Since the giving of the Torah at Mount Sinai, the fifty three portions of the Five Books of Moses have been read chronologically on a yearly basis, one section each week, with the cycle culminating and commencing on the joyous holiday of Simchat Torah. The goal is to study these texts on a yearly basis, with a deeper and broader understanding each time around. The designated weekly portion, studied by millions throughout the generations, is commonly referred to as "The Portion of the Week". This course will follow the weekly Torah portion, thereby connecting class participants with countless others who are doing the same.
